Mozilla to Develop OS based on android!

Mozilla, who are renowned for their successful internet browser, are entering the mobile race, developing a new web-centric OS that will directly compete with Google, Apple and Microsoft.

If the name Mozilla rings any bells it's because they're the tech boffins who put together Internet Explorer, the browser that Windows defaults to. Mozilla took the leviathan computing company on with its Firefox browser, and today it stands as the second most popular browser worldwide.


Now the company who was underdog to Microsoft looks to be playing the same role, but this time against internet mogul Google.


Announced on the Mozilla discussion forum, Mozilla have begun coding for phones and tablets. The BBC revealed the mobile operating system will draw on Android code, with Mozilla writing as much fresh code as possible. The hybrid-like operating system will be named Boot To Gecko. 


It is an unusual name for an OS, until you remember Gecko is the rendering engine employed by the Firefox browser that interprets web page coding and displays it in a screen-friendly format, a homage to its origins.


Even though Android coding will form the operating system's foundations, Mozilla hope to add a much more open wrapper around it than Google currently do, making it more versatile as an operating system.


Its shared foundations will also make Boot To Gecko compatible with the same phones as Android, competing as a direct alternative to Google.


Often, when you select a link from an application native to the Android or iOS market, the operating system will have to open a new webpage in the browser. Boot To Gecko aims to limit this by making applications much more web-centric.


If the venture proves successful, Mozilla will be waging war against industry giants, with Google, Apple and Microsoft dominating many facets of the technological world.

Latest Version of Android and Their Features

From 1.0 to 2.0, the Initial journey

Like all successful products, Android evolved with time. It moved from Strength to Strength and worked over its weaknesses to achieve the heights that it is enjoying today. The interesting part about all the Android versions’ code names is that they are based on the names of desserts. Starting from the first popular version, 1.5 or Cupcake, Android got the basic functionalities for a phone, like recording and watching videos, Bluetooth, keyboards with text prediction and other main functions. The next version was the Donut or 1.6. Donut brought improvement in the Camera department, with synced gallery features and increased speed while performing Camera related functions. Updated search experience also allowed you to search almost everything on your phone and the internet. The 2.1, or Éclair, was the major version which improved almost everything from Bluetooth file transfers to digital zoom, from improved keyboards to new browser UI. Till now, Android had become fairly popular and extremely user friendly.

2.2 Or Froyo, a Major Improvement

Froyo brought major changes in the way the Android operating system worked. Almost everything was revamped in this update and Android became a powerful and user friendly OS. Froyo increased general speed of the Android devices by revamping the UI response time and the hardware interaction. USB tethering, Adobe Flash support and installing applications on removable media were the major upgrades over the Éclair. Currently, this is the most popular Android version that can be found on most phones.

Google revenue soars, while G+ network grows to 40 million

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Google reported third-quarter earnings that handily beat estimates, and announced that its three-month-old Google+ social network now has 40 million users.

         That's a big increase from the 10 million users Google+ had at the end of Google's last quarter, when it remained in a "limited" trial phase. The network opened to the public in late September.

In an earnings release late Thursday, Google said it earned $9.72 per share. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters had forecast earnings of $8.74 per share.

Advertising and profit: Investors are looking to Google's advertising figures as a barometer of the overall economy, and the numbers were good -- though the cost-per-click increase was not as high as it was last quarter.

Spending and hiring: Google is continuing to spend at a quick clip. Capital expenditures totaled $680 million in the third quarter, including investments in Google's massive data 

centers.

Profit rose as both the number of clicks on Google's ads and the amount that advertising partners pay per click increased. Paid clicks rose 28% and cost per click ticked up 5% compared to last year.

But Google has plenty of cash to back up its shopping spree. As of September 30, the company had $42.6 billion on hand.

Google is also continuing to ramp up its hiring. Full-time staffers totaled 31,353 as of September 30, up 9% from the previous quarter.

Motorola:  On Google's earnings call, analysts asked about Google's $12.5 billion acquisition of Motorola Mobility (MMI). The deal was announced in August and, once finalized, will score Google some valuable Motorola patents. Intellectual property is turning into a battlefield among tech giants including Apple (AAPL, Fortune 500) and Microsoft (MSFT, Fortune 500).

When an analyst asked whether Google will license Motorola software to other companies, Google CEO Larry Page said "it would be premature" to discuss details before the deal is approved.

"We're very excited about Android, and we see that ecosystem growing," Page said, adding that the strategy is "getting stronger" -- and the Motorola deal is part of that.

Hyundai Eon Launched - Starts at 2.7 Lacs

The EON has been produced on an altogether different platform that is made exclusively for the rapidly growing Indian market.

South Korean auto giant Hyundai Motor Co has taken the wraps off its entry-level small car Eon at a price range of between Rs 2.69 lakh and Rs 3.71 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Launched in India as a rival to Maruti's best-selling entry-level car, Alto, the 3,495 mm long, 1,550 mm wide and 1,500 tall car comes with 5-speed manual transmission, ground clearance of 170 mm and a fuel capacity of 32 litres.


The company says the 814 cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine car will deliver an ARAI certified mileage of 21.1 kmpl, ahead of 19.7 kmpl and 18 kmpl offered by Maruti Alto and Chevrolet Spark, respectively.
The Eon can produce a maximum power of 56 ps/5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 7.6 kg/4000 rpm, says Hyundai.


As reported earlier by Dailybhaskar.com, the car comes in six variants- Delite, Delite (O), Era, Magna, Magna (O) and Sportz- which will be available at starting prices of Rs 2,69,999, Rs 2,91,869, Rs 3,11,869, Rs 3,36,869, Rs 3,46,869 and Rs 3,71,869. respectively (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The features of the Eon, which vary across the variants, include air conditioning, 2 DIN Audio with Aux-in and USB ports, MDPS with tilt steering, keyless entry and central locking, power windows, internally adjustable outside mirrors, rear parcel tray, body colour door handles and mirrors and front fog lamps.
The car will be available in five colours namely sleek silver, mushroom, dark grey metallic, pristine blue and maharaja red.
